About the Instructor
Brandon Smith is a committed educator and an award-winning professional artist, known for his street scenes, landscapes, and occasional still life.
Brandon was born and raised in San Luis Obispo. After 25 years living in the bay area, he has returned to the central coast. Directly after graduating from the Academy of Art University San Francisco, he began teaching for the fine art department. Since 2003 he has taught on site in San Francisco and helped the University develop their online classes. In addition, Brandon was fortunate to teach multiple times for the Summer study abroad program to Florence Italy. He began teaching online for the Academy during Covid and in 2023 returned with his family to live in Arroyo Grande. Upon Brandon's return to the Central Coast, began teaching classes at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria.
Brandon teaches a variety of subjects including Anatomy, Figure Drawing, Still Life Painting, Figure Painting and Landscape Painting.
About the Class
The class will be taught at The Gallery in Arroyo Grande, with ‘en plein air’ assignments in and around the village. The class is open to all skill levels, from beginner-intermediate to advanced. A full list of materials required will be provided upon registration.
